Spurs and Arsenal are apparently vying for the signature of a hot striker, so West Ham United may have to watch as one of their top transfer targets moves to a Premier League opponent.

Ideally, West Ham would like to add a new center-forward in January. Due to Michail Antonio’s injury, winger Jarrod Bowen has been chosen up front in recent weeks, while David Moyes has chosen not to play Danny Ings.

Bowen has performed admirably, leading West Ham’s forward line with his strength and quickness while also contributing with important goals. Nevertheless, Bowen’s recent ankle injury has increased the need for attacking reinforcements, and this is not a long-term option for Moyes.

Santiago Gimenez, who has been on fire for Feyenoord the past two seasons, is adored by West Ham. The Mexico international scored 28 goals in 50 games the previous season, and with 20 goals in just 22 games this season, he is certain to eclipse that total.

This includes braces in the Champions League against Lazio and hat-tricks in the Eredivisie against Ajax and Excelsior.

It was reported on Saturday that West Ham will use the money they make from Nayef Aguerd, Said Benrahma, and Ings to help pay for Gimenez’s signing.

However, West Ham has now suffered a setback in their attempt to sign the 22-year-old goal striker. Football Insider predicts that in 2024, he will most likely sign with either Arsenal or Tottenham.

This is so that Feyenoord may receive “better deals” from the two North London clubs than from West Ham. Feyenoord has tentatively placed a £30–40 million price tag on him; but, if he keeps up his scoring and if West Ham, Arsenal, and Spurs engage in a bidding war, that figure may increase.

Arsenal, Tottenham both in for Santiago Gimenez

The Feyenoord management believes that Gimenez is essential to their prospects of winning this season, which is why they want to hold onto him through January. Come summertime, Feyenoord will be significantly more willing to negotiate his departure.

This combined with the fact that Gimenez is being pursued by Arsenal and Spurs may compel West Ham to look elsewhere for a striker.

One is Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart, who is being sought after by numerous teams throughout Europe due to his outstanding Bundesliga performance. Given that he would probably need to be signed on loan, 22-year-old Chelsea attacker Armando Broja is a cheap alternative.

Now that they know Ivan Toney will stay at Brentford, Arsenal is prepared to step up their pursuit of Gimenez to make up for the faith they have placed in him. Mikel Arteta doubts that Arsenal’s current forwards, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, possess the merciless goal-scoring ability needed to consistently win titles.

Harry Kane’s summer departure for Bayern Munich left Spurs without a suitable replacement. Although Richarlison’s performance this term has improved somewhat, the Brazilian’s future is still unknown.
