As Thomas Frank attempts to bolster his back line in the January transfer window, Brentford has inquired about Marseille’s left back, Renan Lodi, a Brazilian international.

The Bees have been in a dire slump of late, going winless since the beginning of December. Their most recent FA Cup third-round matchup was a 1-1 draw with Wolves last week.

Because of this, the West London team is in danger of getting involved in the relegation struggle and is now in 16th place with 19 points, dangerously close to the bottom three.

Ivan Toney, the English striker who was connected to a move to Arsenal, was the subject of much conjecture leading up to January. However, with the top player appearing likely to stay, the club is now associated with Lodi.

Prior to joining the French team in the summer, the 25-year-old played for Nottingham Forest on loan from Atletico Madrid during the previous campaign.

Although he has only contributed one assist in 23 games across all competitions this season, he is a member of Marseille’s sixth-place team, which is now 13 points behind Paris Saint-Germain, the team led by Luis Enrique.

The Bees have signed Turkish midfielder Yunus Emre Konak, 18, from Sivasspor for £4million, after he turned 18 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, both Fulham and Everton are monitoring Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka in case he is allowed out on loan.

Onyeka has made 16 appearances in the Premier League so far this season, providing one assist, but has only played more than half an hour on seven occasions.

The 26-year-old’s lack of a prominent role in the side has sparked speculation that he could be looking for more regular minutes elsewhere.

The midfield player is traveling to Cote d’Ivoire to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations with the Nigerian national team.

face Sunday, the Super Eagles take face Equatorial Guinea in the tournament opener.
