Michael Beale, the head coach of Sunderland, has stated that any attempt to sign in-demand winger Jack Clarke in January will not be accepted.

After a fantastic season in Wearside, Standard Sport believes the 23-year-old former Tottenham youth is drawing a lot of interest.

At least five Premier League teams are evaluating bids for Clarke, who has already tallied 12 Championship goals this season. West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Brentford are among those teams.

The Black Cats are eager to hang onto their top player for the duration of the season, but it’s anticipated that a deal beyond £20 million would be given careful study.

“When you are doing what he is doing every week at the top end of the Championship there’s going to be speculation,” said Beale when asked about the interest.

“I want that for my players — I want them to thrive.

“I’ve not heard of any inquiries come directly into the club for him, and I’d be lying if I said they would be welcome.

“We want Jack here playing for a strong Sunderland team and trying to see out what we are trying to do this season.

“I’ve been super impressed by him.”
