After three years, David Moyes may have finally found his ideal striker.

For the past three years, West Ham has been associated with Armando Broja. The Albanian striker originally made a name for himself during a loan spell at Southampton, when he appeared to be a standout young prospect.

Broja was on loan from Chelsea at the time, and I recall him tearing our defense to shreds when playing for the Saints. This piqued the interest of West Ham manager David Moyes, who saw everything he desired in a striker.

Broja, a Slough native, is quick, strong, and adept when pulling into wide areas. On two occasions, West Ham were on the point of signing him, but Chelsea demanded a substantial transfer fee.

Then there was the preseason knee injury that kept the player out for months. This, more than anything else, encouraged the Hammers to focus their attention on Gianluca Scamacca. And now we are back, widely linked to a player who appears to have recovered from injury but has been reduced to a supporting role at Chelsea.

This season, the 22-year-old has battled to gain regular game time at Stamford Bridge, frequently falling behind Nicolas Jackson in Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order. Broja has played 14 games for Chelsea this season, scoring one goal and provided one assist across all competitions.

That is hardly the kind of form that would justify a team paying £30 million for him. However, if a trade can be struck at the proper price, I believe West Ham will show interest in the player.
