According to Florian Plettenberg, Leicester City is considering Wolfsburg’s David Odogu, a promising player, although they will have competition from Premier League teams.

Leicester City is currently leading the Championship and appears to be poised to make a quick return to the Premier League. After their recent relegation, Enzo Maresca’s team is riding high at King Power Stadium and he has settled in well.

The Foxes may not add any players this month and still place in the top two, but they appear committed to keeping getting better.

Young German defender Odogu, 17, is presently a member of Wolfsburg’s U19 team. This season, he has already contributed three goals as a center defender, and his efforts have drawn attention.

Odogu looks to be on the move this winter, and Chelsea is showing interest in him along with Leicester City and a few other unidentified English clubs.

Strong competition

The Foxes are in a good position to negotiate from at the moment, but facing off against Chelsea in the transfer market will never be easy regardless of their current form.

The 17-year-old would undoubtedly get more game time opportunity in the long-run at Leicester City and that may give them an edge. However, the money Chelsea have to work with may prove impossible to compete against.

Odogu won the U17 World Cup just last month, and he is undoubtedly on the rise. However, he hasn’t played for Wolfsburg’s senior team, so it will probably take him some time to be ready for senior football in England.

As the January window heats up, this one is definitely one to watch.

Maresca’s team will next travel to Millwall for this Saturday’s FA Cup third-round match.
