After an effective loan at Dundee, Rangers may be ready to challenge Celtic for the signing of Liverpool defender Owen Beck, according to DaveOCKOP.

Following his impressive performance in 17 Scottish Premiership games for The Dee, the Liverpool journalist, who has over 400,000 followers on X, including Fabrizio Romano, stated on January 1st that the Gers are interested in signing the 21-year-old left-back.

However, it is suggested that in order for a deal to occur, Andrew Robertson would need to recover from his injury at Anfield by the end of the month.

Konstantinos Tsimikas is also facing an injury, leaving the field against Arsenal after a challenge from Bukayo Saka, meaning the situation of Beck is now “one to watch.”

An unlikely outcome

Even despite Jurgen Klopp’s poorly timed injuries at full-back, it is difficult to see the manager deputising a 17-year-old in the absence of Robertson and Tsimikas, having only made two appearances for his boyhood club.

Beck joined Dundee on loan in the summer but has now been recalled after a successful spell in Scotland. He made 20 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting two others.

As a result, in a 4-0 friendly victory against Gibraltar, Rob Page gave the young player his first-ever call-up to the Wales senior squad, starting him on the bench.

Although Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz are on the Rangers roster, there is still a lot of room for improvement, and Beck might be the ideal addition to Philippe Clement’s team.

Even though Beck could play for Liverpool more frequently, Klopp is far more likely to start Joe Gomez in that role. A move, whether long-term or short-term, to Rangers may provide a wealth of experience back in Scotland as the Gers pursue the Scottish Premiership and Europa League glory.
