Cristian Romero, a defender for Tottenham Hotspur, gave the supporters hope that he will bounce back swiftly after missing the game against Everton because of a scare.

Romero and Ben Davies began the match against the Toffees as the team’s central defenders. Eric Dier replaced Romero on the field for the second half of the 2-1 triumph.

With an ice pack strapped to his right hamstring, the World Cup winner was observed watching the second half of the match from the substitutes’ bench.

Micky van de Ven has already missed Spurs games since the match against Chelsea in early November. Tottenham did not win any of those matches, despite Cristian Romero being sent off in the same match and missing three more games.

It makes sense that Tottenham wants to bolster their defense.About a week ago, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Spurs had initiated negotiations with OGC Nice, a French club, in an attempt to recruit Jean-Clair Todibo in January.

Spurs cannot afford another injury

This season, Ange Postecoglou has had a great lot of difficulty managing the injuries and suspensions in his team. Manor Solomon, Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, and others are still a long way from being fit again. On the opposite side, Yves Bissouma received a four-match suspension following his second red card of the season at Nottingham Forest.

Heung-min Son may be sidelined for six weeks in the new year due to South Korea’s involvement in the Asian Cup, while Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are expected to miss a significant amount of playing time at the beginning of the season because they are attending the AFCON.

Spurs View

The defense that included Pedro Porro, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, and Emerson Royal saw the game through to the end yesterday night. Not all four of those names were playing in their proper places. If the team is serious about contending for a top four finish, this is not ideal.

Going forward, Postecoglou will gradually but surely heal a few of his wounded players. Jean-Clair Todibo is the exact type of player our defense needs, therefore the approach to sign him is very positive. In any case, we need to know that Romero’s injury is not life-threatening. We can only hope that is the case.
