The race for São Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo is going to be won by Paris Saint-Germain, as has been extensively reported by the Brazilian media in recent days.

Despite rumors that Leicester City was close to signing the player, the French team turned up and are currently finalizing the last few formalities to complete the trade.

According to a piece about it that Globo Esporte published today, Beraldo made the decision to move to PSG on his own.

The player’s word was crucial because the Foxes, who committed to spending €20 million, are the only team making a significant offer compared to the Paris team.
According to Globo Esporte, Leicester City was considered a “entrance door” to the Premier League because of their strong chances of returning to the top division. This would give him “more conditions to adapt” before moving on to a major European team.

Nevertheless, Beraldo selected PSG since they are a “consolidated” European team with “ambition” to win the Champions League.

It does not appear that a larger offer from Leicester City would have made a difference, so they will simply have to wait and watch if the French team makes an announcement.
