The way Liverpool played against West Ham United last night amazed David Moyes, the team’s manager.

Liverpool dominated the Carabao Cup on Wednesday from beginning to end. Although Curtis Jones stole the show, the whole Reds roster showed up to defeat West Ham. The final score was 5-1.

For Moyes, it was just another dismal journey to Anfield. As a manager, the 60-year-old has now made 21 trips on the field without a victory.

The Scottish coach also acknowledged that his team was powerless to stop Liverpool on that particular day in an interview with whufc.com following the game. Too good, too fast, and too powerful.

“Liverpool were too good of a team for us,” Moyes commented.

“It was as simple as that. We can talk all we like about it, but they were far too strong and far too quick. They were much better than we were.”

Moyes acknowledges Liverpool.

Anyone who has seen any West Ham this season, or actually over the past several, will find that last night was an unusual one.

The Hammers appeared to be a very difficult opponent for Liverpool to play against, as they are always such an awkward opponent.

But in the end, it didn’t turn out that way at all.

With Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, you can often tell within the first 10 minutes or so what kind of performance you’re going to get.

If things are a little slow, a little forced, then it’s rare that they’ll improve too much. The Reds might win but you’re going to be in for a struggle of a 90 minutes.

But there are times when everything just clicks and the energy in the team makes a win feel inevitable. That was the case last night.

After a sluggish display against Manchester United three days earlier, this was like chalk and cheese from Liverpool. Straight away the energy was there. West Ham struggled to match it from the first whistle and never really got up to speed.

Although he has never won at Anfield, that isn’t really what you’d expect from a David Moyes team. He usually gives it a good go even in defeat. Nevertheless, at least he’s able to hold his hands up and admit that Liverpool were simply too good on the night.
