Aston Villa plans to sell periphery players during the upcoming transfer window in order to earn money for their 2024 transfer endeavors, insiders have informed Football Insider.

Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris, the ultra-wealthy owners of Villa, are prepared to support manager Unai Emery by adding more players in January.
However, the Midlands powerhouses must first reduce their wage expenditure, and letting loanee Clement Lenglet back to Barcelona may help them achieve that objective.

This season, Emery’s team has also used Leander Dendoncker, Bertrand Traore, Calum Chambers, and Robin Olsen in sporadic lineups. After 17 games, Aston Villa is in second place in the Premier League, and they want to build on their strong start by adding more players in January.

Last week (12 December), Football Insider reported that Emery’s team is eager to recruit two offensive players during the next January transfer window.

Oscar Gloukh, a midfielder for RB Salzburg who was just added to Villa Park’s radar, is one possible target.

On Wednesday, December 13, Football Insider was informed by sources that Villa might sign Gloukh in January for a projected cost of between £40 and £50 million.

An out-and-out striker is also a priority for the Midlands giants – who currently only have Ollie Watkins and youngster Jhon Duran on the books.

Villa have also advanced to the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League and will play in the competition’s last 16 in March.
