Daniel Farke, manager of Leeds United, has spoken about his long-term future at the club.

Daniel Farke sits back and smiles, his sardonic smile swiftly breaking into his distinctive giggle, before responding, “you never know.” The question that sparked such outrage was, “Will he still be manager at Leeds United in six years?”

Farke’s Leeds United team will face Coventry City at Elland Road tomorrow. It’s a game that pairs one of the Championship’s newest managers against the club’s longest-serving manager, Sky Blues head Mark Robbins, who has been in command for six years.

Farke, meanwhile, has managed five clubs since Robins took over at Coventry, a record that few managers achieve these days. As a result, the chuckle. But the Leeds manager understands that if he can achieve his goals at the club, which include returning to the Premier League and then consolidating their status in the top level, he will have a long stay in west Yorkshire.

“You never know,” says Farke, still with a smile on his face. “This job always comes with lots of pressure and it is never easy. I have been here six months and already it feels like six years because so much has happened during this time.

“I love it here and if I am still allowed to be here in six years having helped this amazing club achieve something special, I would love it. It would also mean we would have achieved our targets. I know what my targets are short and long term and we want to be successful.”

Farke has previous experience with such a stint, having spent six years in his first management post with SV Lippstadt. Leeds fans will be hoping that he stays at Elland Road for the same amount of time since it will indicate that the club is on the right track.
