Bryan Mbeumo Injury Update: Thomas Frank Provides Latest Details Following Brentford’s Loss to Brighton

Brentford will have to wait to find out the extent of Bryan Mbeumo’s injury.

The Cameroonian forward limped out of Brighton’s 2-1 away defeat on Wednesday night, having earlier converted a penalty to put the Bees ahead after Vitaly Janelt was fouled by Jan Paul van Hecke.

The Seagulls promptly responded via Pascal Gross, and Jack Hinshelwood’s first senior goal completed a thrilling comeback victory after the break.

Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, has confirmed that Mbeumo sustained an ankle injury and will undergo assessment ahead of the upcoming match against Sheffield United on Saturday at Bramall Lane.

“He twisted his ankle. We don’t know exactly how severe it is; we will evaluate him tomorrow,” Frank stated after the defeat at the Amex.

While acknowledging the setback, Frank urged caution, emphasizing the need to wait and see the extent of the injury.

The potential absence of Mbeumo would pose a significant challenge for Brentford, especially with the continued unavailability of England striker Ivan Toney until mid-January due to an eight-month ban.

Mbeumo has been crucial in shouldering the attacking responsibilities during Toney’s absence, contributing seven goals and four assists across all competitions this season.

Brentford is currently grappling with multiple injury concerns, with key players such as Nathan Collins, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Kevin Schade, Kristoffer Ajer, Mathias Jensen, and Josh Dasilva all sidelined.

Danish midfielder Christian Norgaard was also suspended for the match against Brighton after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season in last weekend’s 3-1 win against Luton.
