Tottenham Hotspur are rumored to be interested in signing PSV Eindhoven wideman Johan Bakayoko in January. But Brentford are still interested.

Ange Postecoglou’s squad has recently been rocked by an injury crisis, with a number of attacking players like as James Maddison, Richarlison, Manor Solomon, and Ivan Perisic ruled out for a prolonged length of time.

Spurs had a fast start, sitting atop the Premier League table after ten games, but it has since faded. Three consecutive defeats have dropped the Lilywhites to sixth position.

The most recent defeat was at home to Aston Villa. This despite Spurs controlling the first 45 minutes and squandering numerous chances throughout the game.

Heung-min Son has been Tottenham’s leading scorer this season, with eight goals. Nonetheless, it appears like Postecoglou wants, and possibly requires, additional support in those attacking areas.

Spurs will compete with Brentford for Bakayoko.

Spurs are expected to prioritize a wide attacker in the January transfer window, which opens soon. According to Sky Sports, Johan Bakayoko is a possible target, but Brentford is also interested.

Bakayoko was a “starring” player in PSV’s Champions League campaign and now has “big clubs on the hunt” for his services.

Tottenham are among the suitors, having expressed interest in the summer. Brentford were also interested in Bakayoko in August and were close to completing a deal until the 20-year-old decided to stay with PSV.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs, Brentford, or both will make a move in the upcoming transfer window.

I’m sure we’ll be connected to pretty much every brilliant, young winger in the coming month or so, but Bakayoko stands out. If used in Postecoglou’s style of play, his explosive power and pace could be lethal.
