Tottenham Hotspur have increased their interest in Al-Ittihad player Jota.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly increased their interest in Al-Ittihad’s Jota, who formerly played for Celtic under Ange Postecoglou.

According to the Times (Subscription Required), Jota has been unable to play frequently for Al-Ittihad due to a rule that prohibits teams from fielding more than eight foreigners.

His last league game was in September, although he has started their last three AFC Champions League games, including the most recent 0-0 tie at home against Persepolis. He is also said to be available for loan.

He’s been a bad piece of business for Al-Ittihad, not because he’s a bad player, but because they somehow arranged their transfer strategy in such a way that they went over the eight-foreigners restriction. Strange really.

He also cost them £25 million. Spurs, on the other hand, require coverage. Ivan Perisic appears to be out for the rest of the season, which could mean the end of his Tottenham career.

Manor Solomon is also out till the end of the year due to a knee injury. In Harry Kane’s absence, Son Heung-min has been placed to the center of the field.
