With the Premier League returning soon, Ange Postecoglou will have to make some critical decisions when Tottenham Hotspur visit Aston Villa.

Tottenham have suffered back-to-back defeats following an extremely unlucky run of inactivity, which will now extend into the holiday season. Despite the absences of James Maddison and Micky van de Ven, there is still reason for optimism.

And we believe Postecoglou will make three changes as Tottenham attempts to recover.

Vicario appears to be fit to play, and there is also optimism that Udogie will be available. Otherwise, Postecoglou is expected to choose the same Tottenham centre-back pairing against Villa, owing to a lack of alternatives.

Ange Postecoglou may start Giovani Lo Celso for Tottenham versus Villa. Midfield is where things become interesting. Although Yves Bissouma’s one-game yellow card suspension comes at an inconvenient time, it may open the way for an exciting new-look Spurs midfield.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Giovani Lo Celso may find themselves starting in the upcoming match. Bentancur has been gradually improving his fitness, while £27 million Lo Celso delivered an impressive performance for Argentina against Brazil last night.

Although the absence of players like Maddison and Bissouma is felt, it presents an opportunity for others to step up. Postecoglou is likely eager to see Bentancur seize this chance, as the player has aspirations for a starting position even when the entire squad is available.

If either of them remains on the bench, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is likely to retain his spot. In the attacking department, Spurs are expected to field an unchanged lineup.

Son Heung-Min continues to display stellar form, and Brennan Johnson appears sharp and motivated to leave an impact. Aston Villa will pose a significant challenge for Postecoglou’s Tottenham side, but a victory could make a substantial statement after a challenging few weeks.
