The former Manchester United and England defender wondered ‘why on earth’ the Crystal Palace player would want to move to Newcastle.

Manchester United veteran Paul Parker has launched a scathing attack on Newcastle, questioning ‘why on earth’ Joachim Andersen would want to leave London for the North East.

Since last summer, Newcastle United has been connected with the £40 million-rated Crystal Palace defender, but Parker sees no reason why the Denmark international should transfer to St James’ Park.

“What makes Joachim Andersen want to live in Newcastle?” “It wouldn’t make sense to me because he lives in a beautiful area of London,” he told SpilXperten.

“Crystal Palace is a massive club in a beautiful part of England.” It would surprise me if he went to Newcastle. “Sure, many would argue that Newcastle is a bigger club than Crystal Palace, but I don’t think Andersen sees it that way.” He adores Crystal Palace and is well-liked by the fans.”

In addition to criticizing Newcastle, Parker believes a move for Andersen would be unwise “from a football standpoint,” citing Fabian Schar and Sven Botman as reasons for not being assured playing time.

Despite competing in four competitions this season—Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup—Newcastle has faced a relentless fixture schedule leading to numerous injuries.

Parker added, “From a football standpoint, I don’t believe it would be a wise choice for him. With Fabian Schär and Sven Botman ahead in the pecking order, he wouldn’t be guaranteed playing time.

“I appreciate him as a player, but this isn’t a move I believe he should pursue. He’s thriving at Crystal Palace, forming a solid defensive partnership with Marc Guehi. Their collaboration has been one of the strongest in the league this season, and I don’t think he should jeopardize the success he’s currently enjoying.”
