After the international break, catch up on the most recent Leeds United news.

Enzo Maresca’s mental strength message

Leicester City would have taken a 17-point lead over Daniel Farke’s team if they had kept up their winning streak when Leeds United visited the King Power Stadium earlier this month. Georginio Rutter’s goal made sure that didn’t happen, and Leeds defeated Plymouth Argyle to continue their winning streak in the East Midlands after the Foxes lost to Middlesbrough.

As we approach one of the busiest times of the season—the Whites have nine games left until the end of the year—the distance between Leeds and the league leaders has consequently remained at eight points over the international break.

How, therefore, are Leicester adjusting to the increased pressure? In the next weeks, manager Enzo Maresca has sent out a sort of rallying cry, asking his team to be “mentally strong.”

He said to Sky Sports, “What the players were doing was not normal—winning, winning, winning.” “There will therefore be a loud noise when you lose a game.

“That is a component of the league, the process, and football. I always knew that we would not win. Now is the time to concentrate on what we must do to make an effort to get better.

“The procedure is unchanged from when we win a game. All we do is examine what is and isn’t functioning correctly and make an effort to make improvements.

“Winning 13 of our first 14 games was a significant accomplishment. That was the rationale for why people discuss it after we lose. However, I don’t want the players to dwell on that too much. It is normal to lose, so we must have strong mental faculties.”
