Ben Davies, a defender for Rangers, says the team is getting along well with new boss Philippe Clement “early on.”

The Ibrox team has seen a turn around under the Belgian manager, who takes over a group lacking confidence and coming under growing fan pressure.

Speaking about some one-on-one pep talks with Philippe Clement, defender Ben Davies said that the Ibrox team is in agreement with the message sent by the former Monaco manager. Davies is one player who has everything to prove at Rangers.

Rangers must first defeat Hibs at Ibrox and draw at Sparta Prague in order to have a chance to close the gap on Celtic with a victory over Hearts later afternoon.

“The manager has given the players confidence, and we demonstrated that a little bit more against Sparta in the second half,” Davies added.

Personally, I’m glad to be back on the team and I’m especially thrilled that we had a clean sheet.

He wants me to have a little more self-confidence because he thinks I have a decent passing range. That’s probably the same for a few players.

Training has given us the early impression that we like him.

“Thursday represented yet another positive development.” That’s two solid performances in a row; the European away draw and victory from last Saturday are obviously things to build on.

“But we only have one game at a time, and we have a big one coming up on Sunday.”

Ben Davies reveals Philippe Clement backing

The Rangers manager is relieved that Ben Davies has disclosed that the players support Philippe Clement.

The Belgian coach has a difficult task ahead of him: winning a championship with this group of dismal prospects who have lost all confidence in themselves.

Although Ben Davies has struggled since joining the team in a rumored £4 million deal from Liverpool last summer, Philippe Clement obviously thinks highly of the defender.

He is also one of numerous players whose underwhelming performances have led to Michael Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst being fired.

Even if Connor Goldson seems to favor John Souttar as a teammate, the center back will have opportunities in the coming weeks and months.

This included Ben Davies’ forced substitution in the draw against Sparta Prague due to the lack of a designated left-back.

After the match, Philippe Clement was all smiles as he praised the defender. Let’s hope that Davies, like so many other players in the group, can improve under the Belgian.
