According to reports, West Ham United may be poised to make an extremely unexpected call about center back Angelo Ogbonna.

For almost £8.5 million in the summer of 2015, Angelo Ogbonna left Italian powerhouse Juventus to join West Ham (talkSPORT).

With just 111 Premier League minutes this season, the 35-year-old Hammers defender hasn’t even come close to playing at his peak (Transfermarkt).

He sincerely apologized to the supporters on Twitter following the game for the huge mistake he made during our Europa League match against Backa Topola last month.

Under David Moyes, the seasoned Italian is currently the fourth-choice center back—possibly even the fifth if Thilo Kehrer is taken into account.

Furthermore, it appears that he might be leaving the London Stadium in January.

West Ham United could be about to make a shock Angelo Ogbonna decision

Oggy extended his contract by one year prior to the start of the current campaign, and although if he doesn’t play much on the field, his leadership qualities and experience are still very valuable to the team.

According to Claret and Hugh, West Ham might attempt to offload center defender Angelo Ogbonna during the January transfer window.

Since his contract with the London Stadium expires in the summer, we would still receive a fee—albeit a little one—if we were to sell him this winter.

Since joining West Ham, Ogbonna has made 236 appearances, 192 of which have been in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

Since joining the Hammers from Juventus, the Italian has solidly established himself as a true fan favorite in East London, and his departure would be very felt.

To be honest, I think Moyes should maintain Angelo Ogbonna as a coach at West Ham. His laid-back demeanor and considerable expertise make him the perfect person to assist the outstanding young people coming through our ranks.

However, it appears that the Hammers wish to sell the Italian. Just five months later, in January, he will be available on a free transfer, therefore I just don’t see anyone paying a fee for him. It is hoped that the 35-year-old will continue to work at the London Stadium in a coaching role once the season ends.
