According to rumors, former Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner may be on his way out of Birmingham City.

As the US owners “accelerate a complete management overhaul,” Gardner, the Blues’ technical director at the moment, could be the next to leave the organization, claims Football Insider.

The Championship team recently fired manager John Eustace, and according to rumours, Wayne Rooney and former Sunderland players John O’Shea and Ashley Cole have agreed to take over as the new managers.

Gardner signed a three-year contract with Sunderland in 2011 for an undisclosed sum estimated to be approximately £8 million, but his time with Birmingham City may be coming to an end.

The club’s new owners, according to Football Insider, want a new sports director who will “work with Rooney on recruiting players that would fit the incoming manager’s system.”

On November 11, Sunderland plays Birmingham City in the Championship at the Stadium of Light.
