Jack Harrison, a loanee from Leeds United, made his Premier League debut on Saturday for Everton.

The fact that Jack Harrison was finally allowed to make his league debut for the club is one of the few things that Everton can take away from their 2-1 loss to Luton Town on Saturday.

Sean Dyche brought Harrison on from the bench at half time against the Hatters. However, the 26-year-old was unable to turn the match in the favour of the Merseyside club.

Everton signed Harrison on a season-long loan deal from Leeds in the recent summer transfer window, aware that the winger was arriving at Goodison Park with an injury, which has prevented him featuring for the club in the Premier League up until this point.

Now he is fit enough for Premier League involvement, though, Dyche will need Harrison to hit the ground running. He did show in his time at Elland Road that he has the capacity to have impact in the Premier League. His drive, technical ability, and eye for goal ought to make him a real asset for Everton on the flanks.

Jack Harrison adding extra attacking quality

Dyche is certainly pleased to now have the attacker at his disposal. Speaking after the loss to Luton, he said, “he’s still getting to true fitness…He’s building up that true fitness and sharpness but I think you can see there’s talent there and there’s an effective player,” as quoted by Leeds Live.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin now fit and firing once again, Dwight McNeil back in action, and with summer arrivals Arnaut Danjuma, Beto, and Youssef Chermiti all available, Everton now have plenty of quality options in their attacking contingent. Such strength in depth will be vital if the Toffees are to avoid getting mired in a relegation scrap this season.

However, questions remain over the quality of the defensive options at Dyche’s disposal. A lack of quality at the back could be the club’s undoing this season.
