According to Football Insider, Sead Haksabanovic, who is on loan from Stoke City, wants to permanently depart Celtic in January or the following summer.

Late in the summer transfer window, Stoke City signed winger Haksabanovic. He signed a contract with the Scottish powerhouse Celtic for the entire season, and since then, he has managed a goal and an assist in four Championship games.

The 24-year-old has started the last three league games and scored during the weekend’s 3-2 comeback victory over Bristol City.

Currently, new information about his future beyond his loan to the Potters has come from Football Insider, who claim that Haksabanovic has his sights set on a long-term transfer away from his parent club. The Swedish-born winger isn’t interested in going back to Celtic after fighting to get his move to Stoke completed in the summer.

Haksabanovic wants to leave the Scottish side for good in January or next summer. There is no mention of a potential destination in his mind but seems set on leaving Celtic far before his deal runs out in 2027.

On the move permanently?

After his summer loan, it does seem as though Haksabanovic’s future lies outside of Celtic Park. It will be intriguing to see what the next few years hold for the 33-cap Montenegrin international as these most recent reports only serve to support that notion.

He’s had a solid first few weeks at Stoke, putting in some solid performances recently. The victory over Bristol City should make it easier for him to maintain his starting position under Alex Neil, and it will be hoped that he can truly settle in and take off.

It could prove to be a big win for Neil and Stoke City. Their dismal start to the season hasn’t pleased supporters but if they can get a run going, there’s plenty of time for them to come good on the high ambitions for the campaign.
