Michael Beale, the manager of Rangers, faces a “long way back” following his team’s 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen, according to Kenny Miller.

The Gers suffered a shock Scottish Premiership defeat at home to struggling Aberdeen on Saturday (30 September). Abdallah Sima netted the club’s only goal, with Beale’s outfit finishing the match with 10 men after Scott Wright’s red card.

“I’ve got my thoughts on what should happen, but it’s a long way back for Michael Beale at this point,” Miller said on BBC Sportsound, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“Performances have not been great and the first half hour was the best we’ve seen from Rangers in a while, but they don’t take their chances and it ends up a really negative afternoon. This adds to the questions and pressure on the manager and players.”

It is a simply disastrous result for Beale and Rangers, particularly after fierce rivals Celtic defeated Motherwell 2-1 in the afternoon.

The manager would, however, have been solely focused on the performance from his own players, and it was nowhere near good enough as the visitors stormed to all three points.

The home side were superior in the opening stages, seeing the majority of the ball but failing to capitalise on it with plenty of wasted chances.

And that allowed the travelling Dons to take advantage, with the visitors not believing their luck when Wright was dismissed for two yellow cards.

It was a shock loss for Beale, who would have been confident going into the match given the good form of his team and indeed the very poor form of the opposing team.

Now his days might just be numbered at Ibrox, with Gers supporters very unhappy at the full-time whistle.
