Contrary to Fulham, Crystal Palace accomplished nothing. That’s not exaggerating at all. When a stoppable force collided with a moving item at Selhurst Park on his 100th appearance for the club, even the electric Eberechi Eze faded into obscurity.

However, Crystal Palace did not also lose.

Many teams lack the ability to consistently produce results, which is likely why Palace will not be involved in a relegation fight this year.

The top division’s Selhurst Park has unnoticeably become one of the most difficult venues to attend. Palace has played 13 league home games in the last 260 days, winning 11 of them. Arsenal and Manchester City were the only clubs to leave with three points.

Sam Johnstone, an England international, had to perform at his highest level in the Palace goal over the weekend to maintain that record.

However, following the £20 million acquisition of Dean Henderson from Manchester United, Roy Hodgson now has a choice between two outstanding goalkeepers.

Hodgson insisted: “No,” when asked if Johnstone’s performance was a reaction to the strain of new competition. Sam is at that level right now. Because we were dissatisfied with Sam’s performances, we declined to sign Dean. They will be motivated by the competition, but I’m not ready to declare that it has caused him to suddenly play well.

‘We showed the character to play in our way in a difficult area to play,’ Fulham manager Marco Silva said. We had excellent control on everything from Palace.
