Hull City 0 Leeds United 0: An injury, a defender setback, and a missed sitter cost the Whites a point.
Leeds United suffered another injury setback and received their first red card of the season in Wednesday night’s goalless draw at Championship hosts Hull City.
Leeds had nine shots on goal in the first half compared to Hull’s two, but the Whites were unable to break through as Tigers keeper Ryan Allsop made two outstanding stops on his debut for the hosts.
Crysencio Summerville, who came on in the 21st minute to replace the injured Willy Gnonto, initially denied Georginio Rutter, who was played clear through on goal.
Summerville was then denied by a superb save by Allsop, who somehow kept out his stinging volley following a beautiful Rutter lay off.
Leeds picked up where they left off after the break, threatening immediately as shots from Summerville and Dan James were blocked.
On the hour mark, however, the Whites were dealt a hammer blow when Joe Rodon, who had previously been booked, took out Aaron Connolly near the center circle and was handed his marching orders for a second booking.
Despite being down a man, Leeds continued to create chances, but Hull squandered a golden opportunity in the final moments when replacement Adama Traore could only smash a shot against the post when given with an open goal.
