Before Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, it seems like the Bucs secondary might not be as thin on cornerbacks as previously thought.

Zyon McCollum, the cornerback, is still recovering from his concussion against the Washington Commanders. He was a limited participant on Wednesday but was a full participant on Thursday.

Sadly, the same cannot be said about starting right tackle Luke Goedeke, who was an unexpected addition to the injury report yesterday following practice where he appeared to have suffered a concussion, most likely from the Commanders game. Goedeke is the only player from the Bucs who did not participate fully in practice on Thursday out of the five players who were confined to the field yesterday. Tykee Smith, a defensive back, was also mentioned in today’s report because he missed practice due to illness.

Some Bucs Bouncing Back From Injury

If Goedeke is unable to play, then veteran backup Justin Skule will have to slide into the starting spot in Detroit. All-Pro tackle Tristan Wirfs sounded confident in Skule’s ability to start if called upon.

“Skule knows what to do and how to do it better than anyone I know,” Wirfs said. “I tell him just that: ‘Go be a dog, go do what you know how to do, and we’ll have a day.’”
