Overall, West Ham United’s head coach Julen Lopetegui had a fantastic summer transfer window.

For West Ham, Julen Lopetegui brought in several excellent players throughout the summer, and our team is unquestionably stronger now than when he took over.

The West Ham head coach cut a lot of fat at the London Stadium and added nine new players.

Furthermore, rumours have it that the Spaniard is still looking to recruit at least one more player for free.

Even so, this summer has to be remembered as the club’s most successful ever, even if he doesn’t.

However, there were one or two players that Lopetegui would have loved to sell, but wasn’t able to do so in the end.

And now it has become very clear as to why the Hammers were unable to move on one player in particular in the summer window.

West Ham set ridiculous Nayef Aguerd asking price

Nayef Aguerd left the London Stadium on transfer deadline day, but only on loan.

Oddly enough, Nayef Aguerd appears to believe that, following the peculiar farewell he shared on social media, he has permanently left West Ham.

West Ham United's Moroccan defender #27 Nayef Aguerd (L), West Ham United's English midfielder #07 James Ward-Prowse (C) and West Ham United's Engl...

It’s a shame West Ham weren’t able to sell the Moroccan, and now it has been revealed as to exactly why we were unsuccessful in getting rid of him on a permanent basis.

Lyon and Crystal Palace owner John Textor has opened up on the Hammers’ ludicrous summer demands for Aguerd.

The American businessman, who is currently trying to sell his stake in Crystal Palace so that he can perform a takeover at Everton, conducted a press conference yesterday.

Additionally, Paul Brown, a football journalist, recorded Textor’s remarks on his X account: Additionally, according to Textor, West Ham sought €40 million for Aguerd.

claims that Branthwaite was “asking 60m” for Everton. Many supporters thought it was a huge slap in the face from the Moroccan for us and everyone else at the club when it was revealed that Aguerd had rejected that move.

But in light of Textor’s most recent assertion, it’s possible that the Hammers declined the offer.

Asking for that much money for someone who has been so unimpressive over the past 12 months really is bizarre.

He ended up joining Real Sociedad on a season-long loan deal instead.

Nayef Aguerd will be at West Ham until his contract expires

If the Hammers are seriously demanding just under £34 million for the former Rennes man, there’s no way we will be able to sell him.

Aguerd is worth no more than £20 million in my opinion, maybe £25 million at the absolute most.

One thing’s for sure, no club in the Premier League will pay anything like that for him, given the fact that he’s proven how painfully ill-suited he is to English football.

In all honesty, the Moroccan has been a disastrous player for us. He cost £30 million and instantly missed four months of action with a serious ankle injury.

Then when he did regain full fitness, it was obvious to see from the get-go that he didn’t have the physicality needed to play in the Premier League.

The problem West Ham face now is getting rid of Nayef Aguerd permanently. And with the Hammers allegedly asking for just under £34 million for him, it seems like we could be stuck with him for a while yet.
