Tim Spiers claims that Everton and Sean Dyche would not “sign loads of players” during the January transfer window.

The Toffees’ dismal start to the Premier League campaign has seen them finish bottom of the standings without a victory following their heartbreaking loss to Bournemouth at Goodison Park in the final moments of play.

Athletic journalist Spiers acknowledges that the Toffees’ biggest issue is that there isn’t much they can do right now, despite the fact that some fans and analysts have called for Dyche to be fired.

He stated, “I think the biggest problem for Everton is if things aren’t working what do they change? ” in a video posted on The Athletic YouTube channel on September 7. “They had, I believe, fourteen players last week. It’s not like they have a deep squad, and they won’t go out and sign a tonne of players in January. If you’re in a relegation battle, you should definitely have Sean Dyche in charge.”

“If this is it for the rest of the season then you’d be worried because statistically that is one of the worst Premier League defeats of all time.”

Will Everton sack Sean Dyche at Goodison Park?

It does feel as though Everton have been stuck in this loop over the last couple of years. The Toffees feel as though they are almost doing the bare minimum to survive in the Premier League year after year both in a footballing sense and financially.

As Spiers suggests, they won’t have the funds to make several additions to the squad in January, they have absolutely no depth in their ranks and they arguably already have the right manager for a relegation scrap.

Those three factors make it incredibly difficult for the Blues to make any meaningful changes that could impact their fight for survival this term which is why supporters and pundits alike are so worried about what could happen.

Hopefully, Dyche and those above him on the blue half of Merseyside will once again find a way to pull a rabbit out of the hat and turn things around.

It won’t be easy, but there is still plenty of time and lots of football to be played for the Toffees to get their season up and running.
