Crystal Palace continue to receive plenty of interest from other clubs for some of their players during the summer transfer window.

The Eagles have impressed over the past few months as the hard work from Dougie Freedman and his recruitment team has put together a squad capable of competing at the top.

Crystal Palace moved from relegation worries into genuine challengers under Oliver Glasner during the second half of last season.

With the Crystal Palace boss now looking to kick on in his first full campaign at Selhurst Park, the challenge over the summer has been in keeping some of his key players.

Michael Olise completed a transfer to Bayern Munich, coming as a first major blow to the London outfit this transfer window.

Beyond him, Newcastle have continued talks over a switch for Marc Guehi, while Eberechi Eze continues to court transfer interest.

Fulham recently bid for Joachim Andersen, with club-to-club discussions ongoing over the Danish international.

Then there’s Jordan Ayew, who has been linked with a move to Leicester City but is also rumoured with interest elsewhere.

Contact made for Crystal Palace star Jordan Ayew

According to journalist Alan Nixon, via his Patreon, a Saudi Arabian club are looking at signing Jordan Ayew this summer.

The 32-year-old, who is into the final year of his Crystal Palace contract, is also being followed by Leicester who make their return to the Premier League stage.

The Eagles are claimed to be holding out for £10million to let the Ghanaian leave in the coming weeks of the window.

Ayew, who is capable of playing across the frontline, was an important player at Selhurst Park last season.

The forward made 35 Premier League appearances, racking up over 2,500 minutes for Palace while scoring four goals and assisting seven.

His versatility and reliability made for an important role at the club during a season riddled with injury troubles.

Should Crystal Palace sell Jordan Ayew?

The approaches from elsewhere leave a key decision to be made over the future of Ayew in the current transfer window.

With just one year left on his deal, this may be the only chance Crystal Palace have at selling the forward on for a decent fee.

The alternatives are offering a new contract or allowing him to run it down until he becomes a free agent.

Looking at the chance of fresh terms and an extension, it seems the unlikely option due to Ayew’s age profile and place in his career.

While a short-term contract may be an ideal situation for Palace, it may not be for the player, who is likely to desire more security at the latter stages of their career.

That’s not to completely rule out the possibility, but it is less likely.

The other situation is the possibility of another full season before leaving as a free agent next summer.

While it would ensure that Crystal Palace wouldn’t receive a transfer fee and would lose the player, it may be a fitting end for a top servant at the club.

In his six years at Copers Cope, Ayew has been a reliable squad option who cost very little when joining from Swansea.

For the output he has, it is one of the shrewder deals that has worked out and may just be the natural endpoint for his time with the Eagles.

It remains to be seen which decision is landed upon, however the interest may well end with an exit for the 32-year-old.
