Crystal Palace v Norwich City, Premier League, Selhurst Park, 28 September 2019

After finding success elsewhere, Katrine Veje claims that the Crystal Palace Women’s project drew her to the Eagles because of its potential.

The extremely skilled Danish international’s career has included a variety of teams and accomplishments, such as a Women’s Super League championship with Arsenal in 2019 and a league and cup double with Brøndby in Denmark.

She has now signed a contract with Palace, who are currently selling season tickets to the general public. Palace is coming off of its best-ever season, winning the Women’s Championship and getting promoted to the top division for the first time.

In her first interview with the club, Veje told Palace TV, “I’m super, super happy.”

“I’ve been in communication with Crystal Palace for some time now, and now that I’m here, it’s fantastic! “They recently got promoted, which is obviously exciting, and I really fancied that because of all the investment they want to make in this team. I’m excited to get going.”

“I think it’s a great project with all the amenities, and I can tell the club is really interested in investing in this women’s team, so it’s important for me to come in and feel appreciated,” the player said.

“The team is going to be amazing, and the pitches are fantastic. therefore it’s clear that they want to help the squad, and given how women’s football has grown, I believe it merits acknowledgement.

“The facilities and stadium are simply incredible, and it’s clear that they want to support the women’s team’s success in the league and in reaching new heights.” “I anticipate that this season will be incredibly fascinating.”

With more than 160 caps for her country and experience in the National Women’s Soccer League of the United States, French football with Montpellier, Swedish football with FC Rosengård, and the Women’s Super League (WSL) with Arsenal and Everton for the past two seasons, it’s safe to say that Veje has seen a lot in her career.

When she got back to the city, she grinned and said, “I just love London.” It’s wonderful to be back in London, even though my favourite city is Copenhagen—which is undoubtedly quite near to London.

“I believe my function will be to share my experience. All I want to do is make the lives of those around me better.

“I think having players of that calibre is important for the team.” Not to come across as conceited, but I really believe that having those girls in your life who can encourage you both mentally and on the pitch is crucial.

I consider it really significant because I had a player in Denmark with 200 caps who was really kind to me and a fantastic mentor. “I’m eager to get going. We’re just working on the media right now, and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch and play!
