West Ham are trying to make new signings this summer but they’ve had a quick response to one potential bid this weekend.a
The Hammers are looking to back Julen Lopetegui in the market with new signings and have already spent big on the likes of Luis Guilherme and Max Kilman.
However, the Hammers want more and it’s been suggested this weekend that they’d met the asking price of one target.
Reports claimed that West Ham had made a £30m bid for Youssouf Fofana as they look to strengthen the midfield further.
But while a move for Fofana was eye-catching on a Sunday for Hammers fans, journalist Fabrizio Romano has moved to immediately quash any hopes for the Premier League side.
Youssouf Fofana has already rejected West Ham
Taking to X to provide an update on the situation with Fofana and the Hammers, Romano has said that the French star has indeed turned down the move and wants to sign for AC Milan.
Indeed, Fofana has already agreed personal terms with the Italian side.
For West Ham, then, it looks like they’ll need to move on quickly from this one and assess the market.
As usual, the Hammers are being linked with a host of players so new signings will likely happen.
Kevin Danso is one of the players on the list for the club, while Sergi Roberto is also being looked at.
Clearly, the market is a tough one this summer with a number of different clubs seemingly vying to sign the same players across Europe.
West Ham finished in the top ten once again last season but after getting a taste of winning in Europe the year before, the Hammers board want even more.
