Nottingham Forest signed goalkeeper Matt Turner last summer and his days at the club could now look numbered.

The American lost his place between the Forest posts after the club landed Matz Sels during the January transfer window.

He was then playing second fiddle under Nuno Espirito Santo with the head coach making the decision amid a number of high-profile errors.

Turner has been linked with a move back to the MLS and perhaps he’s got a particular club within his sights.

Matt Turner spotted watching MLS fixture

Turner is currently enjoying some downtime after playing for the USA at the Copa America.

The host nation were dumped out at the group stages in an embarrassing fashion with Turner coming in for some criticism.

Now, football journalist Caleb Pongratz claimed that Turner was seen watching New England Revolution against Orlando City.

Turner was thought to be sitting close to the New England bench and perhaps a move back to his former club might be on the cards.

Forest have added Carlos Miguel to their ranks and he will compete for the gloves with Sels when he returns from international duty.

Forest must get rid of Turner this summer

Spending £10 million on Turner last summer can firmly be filed under panic stations spending.

Forest didn’t have a goalkeeper on the eve of the season and it must have been a case of anyone will do.

In fairness, he didn’t start off too bad but bizarrely the more he seemed to play, the more he looked like making mistakes.

Turner is now 30 and it’s no good for him to stay at Forest to be a third-choice goalkeeper.

If MLS clubs do show an interest, Forest would be wise to get him off the books – even if it does mean the club taking a loss.

Forest have to make sure they get their recruitment right and it’s also essential that players like Turner are found other clubs before the window closes.
