According to TEAMtalk, Leicester City is well-positioned to defeat Everton in the summer transfer window for Celtic striker Matt O’Riley.

The outlet stated on its website on Sunday, July 14, that the Foxes are leading the race to capture the midfield player, even though Southampton and the Toffees are also interested in him.

O’Riley is rumored to be interested in moving to the Premier League, therefore Leicester has an advantage over Serie A. Atalanta is also rumored to be in the running for the Danish international.

Celtic won’t let the 23-year-old leave Parkhead this summer unless they receive a higher offer than the club record £25 million.

Will Everton sign Celtic ace Matt O’Riley in the summer transfer window at Goodison Park?

Why Celtic should brace themselves for another Atletico Madrid bid for Matt O'Riley soon

There was always going to be fierce competition for O’Riley’s signature this summer, and Everton now seems to be trailing the other teams vying for the Danish star.

But, things can change drastically during the transfer season, and because Amadou Onana’s sale to Aston Villa is getting closer, it’s possible that the Toffees will need to find a new central midfield player soon.

Should the Belgian depart before Leicester can get a deal of O’Riley over the line, Sean Dyche’s side will have plenty of money to spend to try and beat the Foxes to his signature and that could put them back in the driving seat.

Until pen is put to paper on a contract at the King Power Stadium, Everton could still manage to sign the 23-year-old. Hopefully, they will find a way to leapfrog the competition as this is far too good a deal to miss out on.

This will be one to keep an eye on as the start of the Premier League season draws closer and closer.
