The 22-year-old Andréas Hountondji, who Caen sent out to Rodez last season, is expected to sign a €4 million contract with Burnley, according to L’Équipe.

Burnley was successful in persuading Hountondji to play for England in the UEFA Champions League the following season, despite meeting stiff opposition from AS Saint-Etienne, a recently promoted team, and Stade Brestois, a qualified team for the competition.

The Benin striker recently concluded an incredible season on loan at Rodez, where he scored 16 goals and provided seven more assists to propel the team to an unexpected fourth place in the rankings. The team then qualified for the promotion playoffs, but lost to Paris FC in the opening round.

Hountondji, who was a prominent performer for Rodez during their promotion-chasing story, will not return to Normandy for the upcoming season. Following Vincent Kompany’s departure to Bayern Munich and the recent appointment of Scott Parker, Burnley prioritized signing the young striker in order to return to the Premier League the following season.

The Benin international, who will sign a four-year contract with the Hornets, has received an offer of €4 million from the Championship team for Caen.
