Nottingham Forest could now be in with a chance of signing a player they bid for back in 2023.

There is competition from fellow Premier League clubs, although a price tag has been revealed – therefore, if the Reds stump up the cash, a deal certainly looks possible.

So, who could Nottingham Forest finally bring to the City Ground this summer? Let’s take a look…

Nottingham Forest still want Florentino Luis

A story from Jornal de Noticias in Portugal now claims that Nottingham Forest are still hot on the trail of Benfica No.61 Florentino Luis – and are welcome to sign him this summer.

The Portuguese news outlet believe Benfica cannot guarantee the 24-year-old a regular spot in the starting XI next season, with his future described as “uncertain” in the report.

Benfica have – therefore – told the market that Luis is available if a bid of €30m (£25m) arrives, with Nottingham Forest, Everton and Leicester City intereste

Jornal de Noticias add that Nottingham Forest saw a bid rejected for the man from Lobito in 2023 – although offers are now more welcome at Benfica, as the Primeira Liga outfit are also looking to raise funds to strengthen other areas.

24-year-old open to joining

If Nottingham Forest can agree a fee with Benfica, it would seemingly be quite straightforward to then agree personal terms with Luis as well.

A story from another Portuguese news outlet in Correio da Manha from June claimed that the defensive midfielder – who has been compared to N’Golo Kante – is eager to join Nottingham Forest, as he targets a fresh start away from Benfica.

Therefore, Ross Wilson – Director of Football at the City Ground – could find this deal quite easy to complete once a fee is agreed with Benfica.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation – however – as Everton and Leicester City are also lurking.
