David Edgar has insisted that reports a deal was off for Rangers to sign Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean were “premature”.

It was reported by the Rangers Review that an impasse over personal terms saw any hope of him moving to Ibrox collapse this week.

That is not the case, it seems, with Edgar admitting that despite nothing being guaranteed, all hope is not lost yet for the Bears.

He wrote on the Heart and Hand Podcast account on X: “Nothing guaranteed but reports it was off were premature.”

Kenny McLean to seal Rangers transfer?

This is certainly one to watch now, with Philippe Clement potentially looking for more experience after targeting younger players so far.

Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Oscar Cortes and the impending arrival of Hamza Igamane show that Nils Koppen is steering the ship in a different direction at Ibrox.

That joined by the decision to allow Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack and John Lundstram to leave the club means that experience in the shape of McLean could be very welcome.

Funnily enough, McLean’s agent, Alan Houldsworth was left in hysterics over the reports that a move had collapsed, meaning it could well still be on.

This is no guarantee that it will get done, but it is no secret that McLean has always wanted to play at his boyhood club and they would likely welcome him with open arms.

With transfer activity flying at Ibrox so far, this is another to now keep a very close eye on.
