Burnley have now turned their attention to a former Premier League Player Of The Year winner for their managerial vacancy.

Burnley’s summer plans were thrown into doubt after Vincent Kompany, who guided the Clarets back to the Premier League during his debut season, was lured to Bayern Munich to replace Thomas Tuchel.

Kompany moved to Bayern with a big job on his hands after the German side failed to win the Bundesliga title for the first time since Borussia Dortmund won the league during the 2011/12 season.

As for Burnley, the Lancashire club, who were relegated under Kompany last season, have been looking for a replacement and it appears they’ve turned their attention to one former Premier League star.

Sources have confirmed to HITC that Burnley have now turned their attention to Scott Parker and they hope to appoint him as their new head coach.

The Clarets wanted Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand to take charge at Turf Moor having already failed to land the the likes of Frank Lampard and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

HITC reported that Burnley were confident of appointing the Denmark head coach and were hopeful that the Dane would accept their contract proposal this week.

However, despite being close to a deal, Burnley have moved on from Hjulmand and have now turned to Parker with the hope the former Fulham and Bournemouth is the right man to guide them back to the Premier League.

As mentioned, the Englishman certainly has experience of leading a side to the Premier League from the Championship after achieving this feat on both occasions during his managerial career.

Parker will bring experience to Burnley

The 43-year-old has been out of football since leaving Club Bruges in March 2023, having won just two of his 12 matches at the helm of the Belgian club.

However, it was his two stints in the Championship that were impressive as the Englishman has a very good track record of building a team, and an environment, that breeds results in the second tier of English football.

During his time at Fulham, the Englishman achieved a 35 per cent win rate. As for his time at Bournemouth, this was a lot better with a 53 per cent win rate.
