At Everton, the summer transfer window is fully open, and although there hasn’t been much movement in or out, things are starting to become heated.

Tim Iroegbunam has been introduced on Merseyside, Iliman Ndiaye is almost ready to join the Goodison Park team, and several players have already left when their contracts expired.

It is anticipated that there will be plenty more arrivals and departures before the Premier League season begins and the transfer market closes, but that is just the start.

Amadou Onana is one man who has been the subject of conjecture this summer. The international player from Belgium is one of numerous players who have been heavily projected to depart Everton.

The midfield player may be allowed to leave the Toffees this summer, according to reports, with Bayern Munich and Paris-Saint-Germain (Foot Mercato, June 27 and June 26, respectively) reportedly interested in signing him.

Sean Dyche’s team is not in any rush to offload their top players after the Premier League’s profit and sustainability deadline passed [talkSPORT, July 1]. However, Onana may be free to leave if the proper agreement is reached.

Will Amadou Onana exit Everton amid Barcelona and Bayern Munich transfer links?

While nothing is yet advanced in terms of a summer exit for the 22-year-old, recent developments at Euro 2024 may now mean that a summer transfer could be closer than ever before.

Onana and the rest of his Belgian teammates crashed out of the summer’s tournament with an agonising 1-0 defeat to France on Monday (1 July) courtesy of an own goal from former Spurs man Jan Vertonghen.

With the distraction of the Euros now out of the way, the midfielder’s attention will likely return to club matters and that could well include a potential summer transfer.

It’s very rare that a player will depart a club during a major tournament, but with Belgium’s exit now confirmed and no football to be played until the start of pre-season, it could well be decision time for Onana and Everton.
