News about a transfer involving Liverpool: Murillo may depart Nottingham Forest this week. A Serie A player reportedly wants to sign with the Reds for $64 million.

Liverpool supporters will be hoping to see their team begin their summer transfer activity as preseason draws near.

Now that Arne Slot has gotten a first glance around his new workspace, his backroom staff is starting to gel. He and sports director Richard Hughes’ next task will be to bolster the playing roster with a few additional players.

Numerous names have been connected to Liverpool thus far, but things will get more difficult because of the simultaneous occurrence of Copa America and Euro 2024. Still, Slot plans to bolster his team in the upcoming days and weeks.

This is Liverpool.com’s assessment of the transfer rumors that have surfaced regarding the Reds today, which include talk of a potential Murillo move and interest in Ademola Lookman.

Murillo (Nottingham Forest)

Football Insider reports that defender Murillo of Nottingham Forest may depart the team this week. The Brazilian has reportedly been connected to Liverpool in the past, and the Reds are reportedly still monitoring him.

According to reports, Forest is under pressure to turn a profit by Sunday of about $32 million (£25 million/€30 million). If they don’t, the club may be forced to sell a key player in order to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Calciomercato, an Italian site, reports that Liverpool would be willing to spend $64 million (£51 million/€60 million) for Ademola Lookman this summer. Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly in the similar situation.

In 45 games for Atalanta in the 2023–24 season, Lookman tallied 17 goals and added 10 assists, including a thrilling hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final.

Liverpool.com comments: It’s definitely fair to argue that if Lookman hadn’t scored that hat-trick, there wouldn’t have been as much conjecture about his future. Although he’s had a respectable season for Atalanta, we don’t think Liverpool will pursue him this summer, especially at that price.
