Image for West Ham Targets Hulking Watford Midfielder

West Ham United are setting their sights on strengthening our squad this summer, and Watford midfielder Ismael Kone according to ExWHUEmployee. However, the Irons will have to beat off interest from Roma who are well advanced in their pursuit of the player according to Fabrizio Romano.

The robust midfielder, who has recently turned 22, has been making waves in the Championship and is now on the radar of the Hammers following the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as head coach.

Ex has reported Technical Director Tim Steidten has identified the Ivorian alongside Lopetegui. Kone, a hulking presence in midfield, stands out not only for his physicality but also for his technical skills and versatility. His recent performances for Canada at the Copa America have created further hype around the player, despite the team’s tough start with a 2-0 defeat against Argentina.

Watford signed Kone from Montreal for £8m last year and he is under contract until June 2027.

Kone was born in the Ivory Coast and raised in Canada. His record at Watford—58 appearances and four goals—is promising given the demanding physical toil in the Championship.
