According to the Daily Record, Rangers are pressing to finalize a deal for Liam Kelly while reaffirming their intention to pursue Aberdeen’s Connor Barron.

The outlet stated on page 36 of its print version on June 20 that the Gers had reached an agreement with Barron, 21, and that they intend to register him under a free agent deal.

There is no agreement yet between the clubs, with the Dons able to take the Light Blues to tribunal over a potential £500,000 fee.

Rangers are also said to be “pushing” to seal a deal to sign Scotland squad member Kelly from Motherwell this summer.

Philippe Clement has to bring in plenty of new signings this summer to cover for those who have departed.

He has already begun his rebuilding job by bringing in Clinton Nsiala and Jefte on permanent deals early on.

Barron could prove to be a great addition to the Gers’ squad as the club looks to deal with the departure of Ryan Jack – and others – at the end of his contract.

It is clear how highly he is rated having so nearly made it into Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the European Championships.

Add to this how many different sides from across England and Europe are interested in him, there is no doubt he is a player in demand.

He now looks set on a move to Rangers, with a fee set to be agreed while a medical is being booked in.

If Rangers also add Kelly to their squad alongside Barron, Clement has had an excellent start to his first full summer in charge.
