Hull City have confirmed their first two pre-season friendlies ahead of Tim Walter’s era at the MKM Stadium getting fully underway on July 1 when the players return to Cottingham.

Their first domestic outing on July 23 will see City make the short journey down the M18 to take on beaten League Two play-off semi-finalists Doncaster Rovers at the Eco-Power Stadium, managed of course by ex-Tigers boss Grant McCann and will see them come up against former academy defender Tom Nixon who completed his permanent move away from City on Tuesday.

A week before the Championship campaign starts, City will make the long trip south to Royal Berkshire to face Reading at the SCL Stadium on August 3.

It’s expected the Tigers will add two home friendlies to their upcoming schedule with those two fixtures to be announced in due course, both against higher-ranking opposition.

Early in their pre-season schedule, City’s first team, Under-21s and Under-18s will return to Turkey for a 10-day training camp at the Turkish FA’s Riva headquarters in Istanbul just as they did 12 months ago, and it’s expected, as in previous seasons, the Tigers will play two friendly games against Super Lig opposition, though those are yet to be confirmed.

The club are also working on plans to take a number of supporters out to Turkey for a period during the players’ trip with details expected to be announced in the coming days.
