Salford City have announced the signing of Dan Chesters from West Ham United.

The North-West club revealed via their official website on Wednesday (5 June) that the 22-year-old has signed a two-year deal at The Peninsula Stadium.

Chesters spent last season on loan with Salford City after impressing with the Hammers’ Under-21s.

The winger’s departure from the London Stadium was confirmed via the Premier League’s official website (5 June) as West Ham’s list of released players was published.

West Ham United supporters will wish Dan Chesters well at Salford City

This isn’t a transfer many supporters will be losing sleep over.

Chesters only managed two appearances for the Hammers’ first-team having come through the ranks at the club.

It is difficult to imagine that Chesters was in Julen Lopetegui’s long-term thinking.

Therefore, a move away from the London Stadium was probably best.

Nonetheless, he is still a product of West Ham’s academy, and supporters will be keen to wish him well.

It is always a boost when a player climbs through the ranks and makes his mark on the first team.

It just wasn’t meant to be for Chesters.

The forward will now look to continue his progress with Salford City.

Meanwhile, the focus at the London Stadium will be on building a squad to give Lopetegui the best possible chance during his first season in East London.
