It will never be easy to find Tottenham’s next Harry Kane, but club great Gary Mabbutt believes the player may be in the present academy.

In the summer, Kane departed Tottenham to join Bayern Munich, capping a goal-laden tenure there.
Since then, the England captain has put Bayern on notice, even though it appears that they may finish the season without a trophy—a rarity for the striker.

However, back at Tottenham, the talk is on who might eventually replace Kane, and former defender Mabbutt suggests that young attacker Mikey Moore could be that person.

When asked who is now rising through the ranks and grabbing attention, Mabbutt said that Moore is one of them.

“We have a lot of players out on loan at the moment, as most clubs do have. We have youngsters coming through, we have a young lad called Mikey Moore, a striker who we hope is going to be in the Harry Kane sort of mould. We have a fantastic academy and a lot of work is taking place,” Mabbutt said.

Big boots to fill for Mikey Moore

Mikey Moore is very much still a young boy at 16 but there has been a lot of excitement around him at Tottenham for some time now.

Many talented players are already vying for spots in the starting lineup, proving that the Spurs program is producing quality players. Will Lankshear is another remarkable actor, while Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine are examples of their achievement in recent years.Young Moore has a lot to learn and will need to put in a lot of effort to achieve anything close to what Kane achieved.

But the fact that someone like Mabbutt is praising him in this way indicates Spurs think they may have hit on something special.
