The Hoops are lacking confidence and have too many stars out of form

According to Derek Ferguson, the Celtics team needs to push one another in the locker room and “go after each other” in order to avoid trailing Rangers in the championship battle.

After yet another draw, the Hoops are obviously lacking confidence, since Kilmarnock has already lost several games this season. Brendan Rodgers’ team delivered a subpar performance, and Ferguson is adamant that captain Callum McGregor call a meeting so the players may discuss their complaints with one another.

John Hartson called Alexandro Bernabei a “disgrace” for letting the Killie equalizer last week, and those moments could have a significant impact on who wins the title in May. Ferguson has also instructed the players to resolve issues as soon as can, even if it entails conflict.

“Take away Rodgers as the manager, even in that dressing room as a group, they can’t be happy with each other,” he stated to Open Goal. “It makes sense that they would have pursued one another. Callum McGregor would have called a meeting, and in order to have one, the captain must show leadership by calling them all together.

“Get the coaches out the way, the manager out the way and have it out. Sometimes you need to do that. In our day we’d go out on a night out and then beat the s*** out of each other at the end of the night, that’s what we did!

“We sat, we’d have a bevvy, have a go at each other, sometimes it’d be fisticuffs and then it’d be gone, done and dusted. I think they need to do that in the dressing room, air their views and clear it, get on with it.”

Asked what’s gone wrong at Parkhead he added: “It’s partly the style of football Brendan Rodgers wants to play, it allows teams to get back into their shape and deny them space in the final third. It’s one paced, too many sideways passes. When you compare it to Ange Postecoglou, they were explosive, they came out the traps and were dynamic, Celtic are anything but at the moment.

“Plus with results not going their way, that lack of confidence starts to seep in.”
