Brentford boss Thomas Frank has sent a message to Liverpool saying his team is ready for a big game and believes they can get a result against the Premier League leaders.

The Bees play against Liverpool, who are at the top of the Premier League on Saturday at 12.30pm in London. Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, saw his team win against Burnley last weekend.

But Thomas Frank thinks his Brentford team can do well after they won themselves against Wolves. “We are facing the top-of-the-league team, a team in form in many ways. They have top players and a top manager,” said Frank. “I think Liverpool are the best offensive team in the league, because they are very difficult to close down when they are on it.”

Frank also said that Liverpool scores lots of goals and that makes them tough to play against. He said before the game: “It is going to be a huge challenge, but we are up for it and we believe in ourselves. We believe that we can get a result.”

Brentford’s team will have Frank Onyeka and Yoane Wissa back from playing in the Africa Cup of Nations.

This game will be the last time Thomas Frank and Jurgen Klopp face each other in the Premier League, as Klopp is leaving at the end of the season.

The Bees manager shared his thoughts on football management: “We’re in football because we love the game, we love working with people, trying to create something special, coach a team to play a specific way, create a culture hopefully both.

“The highs and lows definitely make you feel alive, so if you want a more consistent life, don’t become a football manager or a head coach.

“But it is the constant hamster wheel you are doing the same week, after week, after week, and you need to do it to an excellent level.”

He acknowledged the unpredictability of the role: “There are a lot of things you can control, but there are a lot of things you don’t control and that is the thing that is tough.”

Frank also mentioned the importance of energy management: “Every manager and head coach I speak to, or every person I speak to about leadership, the most valuable thing is about taking care of your energy and the worst thing we are able to take care of is our energy.

“I have not met one head coach or manager that is perfect at it, but it is something we definitely need to look into.”
