In order to discuss problems related to independent governance, Rangers and other SPFL teams have requested a meeting with the league’s chairman Murdoch McLennan and chief executive Neil Doncaster.

Journalist Andy Newport of the Daily Record shared this on X, and Gers received calls from Aberdeen, Livingston, Motherwell, St Johnstone, and St Mirren in addition to themselves.

The SPFL chiefs received an official letter stating that the clubs think a meeting between the chairman and chief executive and shareholders would be beneficial for transparency and good governance.

All SPFL clubs have been invited to attend the meeting, which is set to take place on 27 February, to address their issues and concerns surrounding the Independent Governance Review.

This news has emerged following an initial letter sent to the chiefs following serious concerns over the transparency and independence of the governance report after only one member club was allowed any input into the investigation.

David Edgar, host of the Heart & Hand podcast, insisted that the other SPFL clubs are now finally waking up to how poorly the league is run by those at the top, with Rangers having taken issue with several decisions.

In the event that Doncaster and McLennan consent to meet with the clubs, we might finally see some clarity regarding the decision-making process at the top of the Scottish game, which was previously obscured by uncertainty and fear due to a lack of power.

Although the Light Blues have now been joined by other top-flight clubs, they still seem to be marginalized from the rest of the Scottish football pyramid at times due to disagreements with the authorities.
