Luton Town – Injury Forces Withdrawal From International Squad

We ran a piece last week on Vital Luton Town thanking Tom Lockyer on his recall to the Welsh team.Image for Luton Town – Injury Causes International Squad Withdrawal

Our post – luton-town-captain-returns-to-the-international-fold – even indicated that, although not being very interested in international football, I would make an effort to observe how Tom performs if selected.

Unfortunately, that will not be necessary as it has been reported by Luton Today that Tom’s quad injury, which caused him to miss the recent first home Premier League game against West Ham United, has forced him to withdraw from the Welsh team.

Tom was last seen on the pitch against Gillingham in the Carabao Cup, when he was substituted at half-time.

In retrospect, perhaps Tom should have rested for the game, or was Tom keen to play in front of the home fans after his ordeal in the Play-Off Final against Coventry City at Wembley?

We’ll never know, I suppose.

The most important thing right now is that the medical staff does everything they can to get Tom back in the heart of the Hatters’ defense as quickly as possible.
