Everton has mostly used a buy-to-sell strategy when participating in the transfer market for what seems like years.

Following their well-documented financial problems that led to November’s points deduction, Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche are frantically trying to locate someone who would be willing to move to Goodison Park in spite of their problems.

Even if Youssef Chermiti and Beto were notable businessmen in their own right, the financing agreement to purchase Arnaut Danjuma appeared to be the best one considering how long their interest had been maintained.

After a protracted negotiation that began in January of last year, the Dutchman ultimately signed the paperwork and exchanged Villarreal for the loaned Toffees.

However, his season-long stay may now be shortened.

Is Arnaut Danjuma leaving Everton?

It appears that Danjuma is eager to complete that transfer right away, whether it is due to Lyon’s attraction, the little playing time he is getting with Everton, or a combination of the two.

It appears that his present club is the only thing preventing him from making the move, given how transparent his agent has been about his interest in France.

They are in charge of this transaction, thus it would be unwise to approve his leave without first arranging a replacement.

Luckily for him, should Thelwell be able to pull something off, their €18 million (£15 million) interest in Real Betis winger Luis Henrique might provide him with that route towards a move abroad.

Who is Luis Henrique?

The six-foot winger, who was born in Petropolis, Brazil, brings a youthful enthusiasm and a nice blend of power and pace to this Everton team.

The 23-year-old would, if anything, be an improvement over Danjuma and a player who is far more accustomed to a Dyche system than the Villarreal player.

Given that the former AFC Bournemouth player had only made four Premier League starts and 13 overall appearances while scoring just one goal, there had to be a reason why he was so unpopular.

Even though Henrique isn’t the world’s most offensive wide player, he excels in defensive stats when compared to other wingers in Europe. Just last year, Spanish football analyst Tim Lee called his maturity and quality “very impressive.”

He sits in the top 7% for successful take-ons per 90, but also reaching the top 7% for tackles, the top 15% for blocks, the top 12% for clearances and the top 8% for aerials won per 90, via FBref.Real Betis v UD Las Palmas - LaLiga EA Sports

It’s important to remember that Dwight McNeil was acquired in a similar fashion despite being an enthusiastic defender who had struggled to score goals for Burnley in the league the season before.

It would undoubtedly be a worthwhile switch to make if Henrique could arrive and have even half of the success that man had in recent seasons.
