What happened to the Nottingham Forest players who had collapsed lungs and moved for £17 million?
Nottingham Forest news as NottinghamshireLive examines players associated with the Reds during the summer transfer window.
Nottingham Forest are hoping that the 13 recruits they made this summer would help them advance to the Premier League’s next level.
The Reds made some impressive signings during the transfer window, giving head coach Steve Cooper plenty of alternatives when the season resumes following the international break. Owner Evangelos Marinakis spoke earlier this week about a “very clear and well calculated” transfer plan.
However, as with every club in every window, Forest were associated with a number of players who did not sign a contract at the City Ground in the end. We look at what happened to some of those who were rumored to be on the Reds’ radar but did not join Cooper’s squad.
Carlos Borges Forest was one of several teams interested in the promising kid. West Ham United and Palermo were also reported to be interested in the 19-year-old.

Ajax, on the other hand, won the race for his signature. They recruited the attacker from Manchester City for up to 20 million euros (£17.3 million). A 20% sell-on clause is claimed to have been inserted, as well as a buy-back option for City.
Henderson, Dean
After impressing on loan from Manchester United last season, the Reds were eager to bring him back. The issue stretched on for much of the summer, but it finished with Forest signing Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos, while Henderson moved to Crystal Palace for £20 million.
He has yet to make his Palace debut after being sidelined with a thigh ailment since January. However, he will face his former club when Cooper’s team visits Selhurst Park next month.
Renan Lodi’s
A return for Brazilian Lodi, like Henderson, would have been a highly popular deal. It was not to be, as the left-back left Atletico Madrid for Marseille. According to reports, a sum of 13 million euros (£11 million) was paid to obtain his services.
In mid-August, a link to the versatile Juventus defender emerged. West Ham were also thought to be interested, with the Italian club reportedly willing to let him go for £13 million. Despite the rumored interest, Kostic remained in his current position.
Maatsen, Ian
The Reds were alleged to have “expressed interest” in the Chelsea defender before the summer transfer window opened. West Ham United, Benfica, and Wolfsburg were also mentioned.
